Caring for Vachetta & Untreated Leathers
How to preserve — and gracefully patina — the most delicate leather in luxury.
The First Six Months
Keep new vachetta out of direct rain and away from denim transfer. Do not condition it. A light, even exposure to indirect sunlight develops the honey tone collectors covet.
Rain, Stains & Spills
Blot immediately with a dry microfiber cloth — never rub. Water rings can be minimized by lightly wetting the entire panel to unify the mark, then air-drying flat.
Long-Term Storage
Stuff with acid-free tissue, store in the original dustbag inside a climate-stable closet (60–70°F, 45–55% humidity). Avoid plastic — leather must breathe.
