Date Codes & Chip
Pieces made through 2021 carry a heat-stamped date code inside a pocket or seam — two letters (atelier) followed by four digits (week / year). From 2021 onward, LV replaced date codes with embedded RFID microchips. Older pieces should have crisp, deeply-set codes.
Vachetta Patina
Untreated vachetta leather starts pale beige and darkens to warm honey over years of exposure. Even, gradual patina is a strong authenticity signal; splotchy or artificially-yellowed leather is not.
Canvas Symmetry
The Monogram canvas is cut and aligned so that the LV and floral motifs mirror symmetrically across seams. On genuine bags, the pattern often continues cleanly from front to back over the base.
